Meet the organizer: Professoe Mingjie Zhang - video interview
Cell Symposia is now Cell Press Symposia—explore the story behind the change
Biological processes happen in three dimensions and play out over varying timescales. With recent breakthroughs in structural and AI-driven approaches, it is becoming possible to see and understand how individual macromolecules and the complexes they form work in complex cellular environments. Beyond individual cells, structural biology can now encompass tissue- or organism-level questions.
This meeting will focus on the latest advances in our understanding of biological processes through the lens of emerging structural and computational technologies.
Themes will include:
- Protein complexes in nucleus and in other organelles
- Cytoplasmic and membrane proteins
- Signaling dynamics
- Structural virology and host-pathogen interactions
- Structural analyses beyond individual cells
- Further topics covered will include progress in protein design and future directions for structural analysis in situ.
Meet the organizer: Professoe Mingjie Zhang
Hear from Professor Mingjie Zhang (Southern University of Science & Technology, China), organizer of Cell Press Symposia: Biological function in 3D: Structure, dynamics, and AI, as he discusses why understanding biological function in three dimensions is fundamental to advancing the life sciences. In this inspiring interview, Professor Zhang shares how emerging technologies and interdisciplinary collaboration are transforming our ability to uncover the molecular mechanisms of life and opening new frontiers in biology and medicine.
