Judith Zaugg is Professor of Molecular Medicine at the University of Basel, where she leads the Molecular and Computational Hematology–Immunology group. She obtained her PhD in Computational Biology from EMBL-EBI and the University of Cambridge, and conducted postdoctoral research at Stanford University before establishing her group at EMBL Heidelberg. Her lab develops and applies single-cell and spatial transcriptomics technologies, integrated with computational data analysis, to decode gene regulatory networks underlying hematopoietic stem cell differentiation and cellular interactions within the bone marrow niche and immune system. A central focus is understanding how this ecosystem is perturbed by malignancies, aging, and inherited disorders, revealing new disease mechanisms and therapeutic opportunities.
