Theodore Alexandrov is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Pharmacology and Bioengineering at UC San Diego School of Medicine and the CEO of the techbio startup DeepCyte. Previously, he was a Research Team Leader and Head of the Metabolomics Core Facility at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory. His research focuses on decoding the secrets of human metabolism to address pressing biomedical questions. He and his team pursue this through enabling technologies in spatial and single-cell metabolomics, paired with advanced computational methods and AI. They are best known for METASPACE, a widely used cloud platform for spatial metabolomics, and the SpaceM family of methods for single-cell metabolomics. At DeepCyte, Theodore Alexandrov leads the translation of these technologies into real-world impact in modern, AI-driven pharmacology.
