Jernej Ule studies protein-RNA regulatory principles, with a particular focus on the roles of protein-RNA complexes in neuronal adaptive mechanisms. He heads a laboratory of RNA networks at the UK Dementia Research Institute at King’s College London and additionally he co-supervises a small satellite team at the Institute of Chemistry in Ljubljana, Slovenia. He obtained his BSc at University of Ljubljana and Ph.D. from the Rockefeller University in New York. In 2006 he started his own research group in Cambridge, UK, then moved with his team to the Francis Crick Institute in London and in 2022 took on his current role of the centre director of UKDRI and Professor of Neurodegeneration Research at King’s. His team now studies the functions of protein-RNA networks in neuronal homeostasis, in brain aging and neurodegenerative diseases.
