Anna-Maria Globig, Allen Institute, USA
Dr. med. Anna-Maria Globig is an Assistant Investigator at the Allen Institute. Dr. Globig earned her medical degree from the Albert-Ludwigs-University in Freiburg. She then trained in Internal Medicine at the University Medical Center Freiburg before joining Susan Kaech’s lab at the Salk Institute in San Diego as a Postdoctoral Fellow; there, she identified a new pathway through which the sympathetic nervous system suppresses immune responses to viral infections and cancer. At the Allen Institute, Dr. Globig’s research explores the crosstalk between the nervous and immune systems, aiming to leverage this understanding to develop more effective anti-cancer therapies. She is the recipient of several early-career awards, including the 2025 AAI ASPIRE Award and the 2025 Forbeck Foundation Scholar Award.
