Cell Press Symposia: Exercise metabolism
In partnership with Helmholtz Munich
December 1–3, 2027 | Munich, Germany
Abstract submission deadline July 30, 2027
Exercise exerts profound benefits across tissues and organ systems, promoting metabolic resilience, healthy aging, and protection against chronic disease. Its effects emerge through interconnected biological, behavioral, and environmental pathways that remain an important frontier in health research.
The next iteration of this symposium will bring together exercise physiologists, systems biologists, circadian researchers, clinicians, and leaders in multi-omic data integration to examine how different exercise modalities shape health, disease, and performance. The goal is to advance our mechanistic understanding of exercise metabolism across tissues and systems, define the therapeutic potential of exercise for diabetes and other chronic diseases, and integrate these insights with emerging approaches in precision health. By combining experimental discovery with AI-enabled modeling and prediction, the meeting will explore how mechanism-driven strategies can translate exercise research into better prevention and treatment optimization for all.
Topics include:
- Inter-organ communication
- Exercise and disease resilience
- Preserving muscle mass
- Integrated omics
- Aging and precision health
