Manolis Pasparakis

Manolis Pasparakis studied biology and received his Ph.D. from the University of Athens. After postdoctoral training at the University of Cologne, he became a Group Leader at the EMBL Mouse Biology Programme in Rome. Since 2005 he is a Professor at the Institute for Genetics of the University of Cologne. His research aims to understand the mechanisms regulating inflammation and the pathogenesis of inflammatory diseases. Topics of particular interest in his lab include TNF receptor and RIP kinase signalling, mechanisms regulating cell death and its role in inflammation, as well as ZBP1 as a sensor of Z-DNA and Z-RNA that mediates cell death, inflammation and interferon responses.
