Kate Schroder

Professor Kate Schroder heads the Inflammasome Laboratory and is Director of the Centre for Inflammation and Disease Research at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience, University of Queensland, as an NHMRC Leadership Fellow. Trained by inflammasome pioneer Jürg Tschopp, her lab investigates the molecular mechanisms of inflammasome activation and inhibition. She is a co-inventor on NLRP3 inflammasome inhibitor patents commercialised by Inflazome Ltd, recently acquired by Roche in a landmark biotech deal. Kate has authored over 140 publications, cited more than 35,000 times, in journals including Science, Cell, and Nature Medicine, and has received numerous awards including the 2022 Women in Technology Excellence in Science Award and the 2019 Merck Research Medal.
